Did you know that today is Mardi Gras? Mardi Gras is French for “Fat Tuesday”, reflecting the practice of the last night of eating richer, fatty foods before the ritual fasting. Popular practices on Mardi Gras include wearing masks and costumes, overturning social conventions, dancing, sports competitions and parades to name but a few. Today Olesya has a Mardi Gras mask on her cat which adorns this fabulous tag.
We asked Olesya what inspired her to create this tag, she said” We have some similar holiday in Russia it goes far to our roots and looks more like folk festival with pancakes and fairs than a masquerade. It was very interesting to look through the articles to read interesting details about Mardi Gras. The bright pictures of this festival inspired me to dress up my cat on a tag :)”
Thanks for joining us today and do let us know if you have celebrated Mardi Gras and if so what you did!
