Now that the new year has begun, thoughts turn to new years resolutions, what do you plan to do more of or better this year? We asked the team to come up with some new year resolution inspiration in their crafting projects, Tanya starts us off with a mood board scrapbooking page of things she would like to achieve in 2017!
We love all of Tanya’s ideas, I know the team in the office would sign up to read more and relax more, but not so sure about the travel one after all the trips planned this month for trade shows!
We would love to hear what your new year’s resolutions are? Are you still sticking to it or have you fallen already? Just remember Tanya’s message “Think Positive”.
Hi, we hope you enjoyed today’s Facebook Live post where we showed you how to color on this bag. As promised here are the full step out instructions for the Floral Fabric Bag to download and keep.
Don’t worry if you missed the live showing, you can watch it here now.
It is that time of year when we invite you to apply to join our design team. We are looking for talented designers and artists who can use alcohol pens or colored pencils as well as sharing knowledge on general crafting techniques.
Whether you are a card maker, scrapbooker, mixed media artist, home decor artist, or upcycler we are looking for diverse people to join our happy team. Entries are welcome from all corners of the world, our only requirement is that you can submit your projects and written instructions and videos in English and on time.
In return for being on the main design team you will get a Deluxe set of pens or one of our new product lines (can’t say more until after Creativation at the end of january when the product is launched) and partake in cross company promotions, such as blog hops. All team members will be given credit for work on the company blog, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram and in our newsletters. We will also share a link back to your own blog and an artist biography and you will have the opportunity of having your work shown at consumer and trade shows and on TV in the UK and USA.
For the Main Design team we ask that you be an active team member for 1 year commencing 1st April 2017 ending 31st March 2018. During this time we would like you to submit 2 projects per month we will advise of the theme but all projects must be accompanied by photo step out instructions in the format we advise. In addition to this you will be required to participate in any Partner Company hops that are organised (usually one a month – so 3 projects a month on average in total) and be active on our Social Media pages. From time to time you will also be asked to submit projects for magazine publications for Chameleon Pens. If we make any additional requests for work beyond this you will be compensated, and if you independently have projects published in magazines that promote the pens there will be additional rewards.
The projects submitted for the blog should include an unwatermarked photo and written instructions (we would like at least one video post a month by one of the design team members to go on the blog but if you are not able to create videos we will still consider your application). We ask that you only use Chameleon pens in projects for our blog . Chameleon will have the right to use all artwork and projects across all advertising, mixed media and TV mediums, and you may be asked to send any projects you have created for the blog to us for further use (we will reimburse any shipping costs).
So how do you apply?
There are two submission rounds this year, in the first round we would like you to submit a project with step out photo and written instructions showcasing your colouring talents, we will be looking for skills in shading, highlighting and blending be it in pen or pencil. Your project can be a card, scrapbook page mixed media piece . All projects must be new and not shared anywhere else on your blogs or other social media sites. If you wish to include a video tutorial too that would be a bonus (Please remember videos should be no more than 5-7 minutes in length and edited to a final publication standard). Your projects can be coloured in any medium, e.g. pencil, watercolour or alcohol pen, they do not have to be Chameleon products for this round. We ask that you do not share these projects elsewhere until the design team call ends and we have announced the team.
Photos of your projects should be taken against a neutral background with no dressing of the design and should be of a high quality. Please do not include a watermark.
Please provide details of your name, address and phone number and if you prefer to color in pencil or alcohol pen (or both!!!!)
List all links to your blogs, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Vimeo and tell us about existing and past design teams and publications you have had.
The deadline for submission of the first round will be 5th February 2017, our chosen finalists will be contacted and invited to partake in the second round. We will be sending out product for use in the design process for the second round project, which will need to be submitted by the 12th March 2017, we then plan to announce the new team later that month.
Send your entries to firstname.lastname@example.org
All the parcels have been unwrapped and new homes have been found for all those wonderful gifts given over the Holiday season, now it is time to say thanks, so we asked Monica to create a card to inspire you to make your own thank you cards this year!
Monica said “There is always a moment when you need to thank somebody in a very good way… and Christmas is the best time of the year to do it!”
We adore the way her speech bubble uses images and words to create the message of thanks.
Thanks for joining us today, don’t forget to pop back next Monday for a big announcement!
As we all wish for spring Cathy has used this season to inspire her thank you card; with the thought of the flowers that begin to bloom and color returning to gardens everywhere. The result is this beautiful spring bouquet card to say thanks.
By Cathy A
Each of the flowers on this card has been created using Elizabeth Craft Dies and tools and Chameleon Pens. You can see from this close up of some of the flowers how easy they are to color with just a few Chameleon pens.
Cathy has created a video and downloadable instructions for each of the flowers so that you can re-create them.
For the Iris you will need Elizabeth Craft Designs 1193 Garden Notes Iris and Fuchsia, Peony Pink, Mellow Yellow, Spring Meadow and Grass Green Chameleon Pens along with Elizabeth Craft Designs Susan’s Garden Leaf Pad, Susan’s Garden Moulding Pad and Susan’s Garden Tool Set. You can download the instructions for this iris-flower here.
The Elizabeth Crafts 1089 Garden Notes Pansy was created using Deep Violet, Mellow Yellow, Olive Green and Green Apple Chameleon Pens along with Elizabeth Craft Designs Susan’s Garden Leaf Pad, Susan’s Garden Moulding Pad and Susan’s Garden Tool Set. You can download the instructions for this pansy-flower here.
The Elizabeth Crafts 1018 Garden Notes Poppy was created using Green Apple, Dark Sage, Mellow Yellow and Bark Chameleon Pens along with Elizabeth Craft Designs Susan’s Garden Leaf Pad, Susan’s Garden Moulding Pad and Susan’s Garden Tool Set. You can download the instructions for this poppy-flower here.
As the card has a 3D design it needs to be boxed to prevent damage when posted so Cathy has created this simple box with an embossed design top to hold the card.
Other materials used to create the box and card design:- Tattered Lace T Bar Slider Dies (embossed box lid) Tattered Lace Card Shapes Squares, Penny Black Flower Tags Die (tag on card), Penny Black Thank You sentiment from Oriental clear set, SRM large Doily, Orchid Liquid Pearls and ribbon from Michaels.
We hope these flowers have brightened your new year and inspired you to create thank you cards with a splash of color.
Welcome back to the last Friend Friday of this year with our friends at Hero Arts, we have had so much fun hopping along with them over the last few weeks. Hero Arts make such a great range of stamps, dies and accessories it has been a breeze to create projects with them.
Today Cathy shows how you can use the Branch Wreath Fancy die from the Christmas release to create a thank you card that is suitable for any time of year. The shells and netting have been colored using just two Chameleon pens, we love how the gradation in color on the shells gives them more shape!
Did you know that our friends in the Ukraine and Russia don’t celebrate Christmas until the 7th January, as part of the Orthodox Christmas? So with this in mind we have a Christmas card from our Russian designer Olesya.
We asked Olesya what inspired her to create this design, she said “Winter Time Fun set by hero Arts is meant to create funny scenes. I wanted to create my own with these cute forest critters looking at the raccoon to trim the tree in a proper way :)”.
Although it is our last Friday with Hero Arts you still have the opportunity to enter our competition to try our pens too, so why not have a go and enter today, we will put your name in our Chameleon Santa Hat and draw a winner for a 5 pack of Chameleon Pens of your choice, but as it is Christmas our friends at Hero Arts have given us the Color Layering Sea Horse Bundle to give away too, so we will pick a second name out of Santa’s hat to win this prize too! To enter leave a comment at the end of this post and sign up to join our creative community (it’s free to join), the draw will close at midnight GMT on the 1st January 2017. The winner will be announced on our blog when we have a Winner Wednesday post.

Hello everyone, we hope you had a wonderful Christmas and if you were lucky enough to receive a present or two, may be you are thinking of creating a few thank you cards. Leah has kindly provided a design to inspire you today, using this beautiful Poinsettia design.
Leah was inspired by when she was little, she said “Growing up my mom always had me write thank you cards for all the Christmas gifts I’d received. Now that I’m a mom I continue that polite tradition with my own kids. Being on the heels of Christmas time to extend thanks means you can also use some Christmasy images longer! I chose a beautiful poinsettia that was brought to life using Chameleon Color Tones to say thank you!”
Well I am off to make my thank you cards now, see you next week after all the new year celebrations! But before we go everyone in the Chameleon office would like to wish all our readers a Happy New Year!
Ho Ho Ho has Santa visited you yet this year, were you naughty or nice and more to the point did you get the Chameleon Pens you have been hinting about?
Ekaterina has a very patriotic holiday card for us on this festive day….
We just love the dimension on the bow of the parcel with the Crimson Red Pen!
So all that remains is for the Chameleon team to wish you all a very Merry Christmas!
Welcome back for another Friend Friday with our good Friends over at Hero Arts. If you haven’t come across Hero Arts before they make high quality stamps, dies, inks and embellishments that work perfectly with Chameleon Pens.
Ekaterina has created a holiday card using the Hero Arts Holiday Cheer stamp set.
Ekaterina says “The best holiday in a year is a Birthday. All of us like to celebrate both the birthday, and our close people and friends”.
