Hi everyone Simply Monica with my 1st official post for Chameleon Pens. Love is in the Air here at Chameleon so join us as we share a Valentines Day Card.
This card was created using the following items: Chameleon Pens Bubble Gum PK3, Sky Blue BL3, Crimson Red RD4, Royal Blue BL6, Hot Cocoa BR2, Bark BR5, Bisque NU1 and Fawn NU3, Tim Holtz Tea Dye Distress Ink, Bazzill White Cardstock,Pink Paislee Patterned Paper, Tim Holtz Stamp Creative memories, Katie & Co Stamp Happy Valentines Day, Ribbon, Xyron – 150 Adhesive Runner.
First stamp the image and color the dress with PK3, BL3, RD4 and BL6. Start off with straight color and then begin to blend by leaving the mixing chamber on the pen for about 10 seconds with each addition of color.
Then color her hair with BR2 and Br5. BR2 was laid down first and then the mixing chamber was placed on the nib for approximately 8 seconds before colouring in the highlighted areas, shadows were added using BR5.
Her skin was colored with NU1 and NU3. NU1 is very similiar to E11 with copics it adds the nice dark tone to the skin when applied direct. If you add the mixing chamber for 10 seconds you will get a nice E000 look, then continue, but decrease the time you hold the mixing chamber on the nib as you go, this will give you a nice even blend.
Use the Joy Craft Heart border for the side of the card and a Spellbinder oval diecut for the main image. A Joy Craft die cut was placed behind the oval, topped off with a Stampin Up diecut. Then layered with a simple straight square cut.
This card will certainly have the recipient floating on air, we will be bringing you more Valentines inspiration over the coming weeks so don’t forget to follow us with Bloglovin’ , just click the box to the right of this page, it is that simple!
Victoria Schultz Grundy is joining us today to share this stunning Mandala that she drew herself, she is such a talented artist and we are so pleased that she took our Chameleon 22 Deluxe pen set for a test drive.
Victoria has used our Olive Green, Warm Sunset and Sky Blue to colour the outer parts of the mandala, how cool that you can achieve all these shades with just three pens!
In this next step Purple Grape and Crimson Red have been added giving a wonderful warmth to the project. The mandala was then finished by adding Hot Cocoa to the centre, so this whole project only used 6 pens, amazing eh?
If you have created any Zentangle projects then please do share them with us on our Facebook page here

This cute coloured image just makes us want to go all mushy inside!
We were so excited when Victoria agreed to try out our pens, as a published Zen Doodle artist her work really caught our eye. When her finished projects hit our in box the oohs and aahs could be heard for miles!
Victoria has used our deluxe pen set which contains a detail pen with a 4mm and 6mm nib which is perfect for drawing your Zentangles. Rather than using a blended approach she has used blocks of color using the same pen to get the myriad of shades seen here.
Here is another shot of the work in progress, we just love how cluttered her desk is with arty bits but there is still room for her Chameleon Pens!
We asked Victoria to tell us a bit about her creative journey.
“I’m an artist”. That statement was very powerful to me growing up in a small Midwestern town. There weren’t many artists that I knew and no art museums or computers or internet, yet somehow I was still an artist. My sister says I was born to be one. Most of us artists figure this out early in that we see the world differently, I surely did.
Because of this I saw art in everything, mostly nature. I created with what items I had often painting rocks and later sculpting with salt dough. It didn’t matter what the material was. I think now I believed in the meditative equation of time spent lost in drawing was really good for me. In College I studied interior design and art I was able to travel abroad.
I was excited to see the world through another culture and through the art of Europe.
I like painting and drawing but I am just as creative sewing and cooking as well as designing.
Currently I’m exploring teaching a drawing class were we explore much more than drawing. Of course I cover techniques, composition, and color but the best part is that we share our lives. There is great joy for us both when my students find they can do these amazing things. I helped them to find this creative thread and nurture it.
It is a mighty thing when the thing you love gives back.
I give away a lot of what I create because I want to make room for more and because I love the gift of giving. I will keep creating I believe, because that is what I was made to do.
We have more of Victoria’s stunning work to share with you over the coming weeks so make sure you have clicked the follow us button so you don’t miss her amazing work.

Isn’t it cool how Annette has created new colours by overlaying one pen color over another?
We scour the globe looking for artists to showcase our products and during one such search we came across the wonderful Teresa Abajo, she kindly agreed to do a video for us and if you are local to where she lives in Australia you might find her teaching a Chameleon class near you!
We asked Teresa to tell us a little bit about herself so you could all get to know her.
I am a mother of three, part time hospital scientist who loves to play with paper. I generally classify myself as a cardmaker, but I also love to make books, dabble in mixed media and generally make a colourful mess.
I am lucky to be able to teach this craft at my local shop, I’m published regularly in several publications, and I serve on a number of design teams.
I love to make things and when they put a smile on someone’s face, I feel fulfilled and happy. I think I’m exactly where I should be.
With spring around the corner this is the perfect home decor project to brighten a wintery day!
Teresa used Warm Sunset (Y03) to colour the flowers, yes she really did get all those shades from the one pen!
If you would like to see more of Teresa’s projects you can find them on her blog, The Tamarisk here.
We just adore Annette’s clean style and this Hello card is just the perfect way to introduce her wonderful creative talent. Annette says
“I do not plan my cards out in advance. I always base my card off the image. I think this helps when pulling all those colors together in fun ways.”
Chameleon Pens used: Bubble Gum (PK3), Fawn (NU3), Bisque (NU1), Bark (BR5), Grass Green (GR3) and Aqua Marine (BG4), Some Odd Girl (Dressy Mae), Papertrey Ink die, Reverse Confetti (Love Note die), Waffle Flower (Bowtiful) stamp set, The Twinery (Caribbean solid), Avery Elle (The Everyday Collection) and Neenah (solar white) card-stock.
1) Start with the face when coloring the image. Begin with Bubble Gum (PK3) using the brush nib infusing for a minimum of 10 seconds to give the light to dark shading on the cheeks for the affect of blush then blending the skin tone with Bisque (NU1) and Fawn (NU3) each infused for a minimum of 15 seconds.
2) Moving on to the hair use Bark (BR5) infused for 25 seconds. Don’t you just love how only one pen was used to create all the highlights in the hair?
3) Enjoy using non-traditional color combos, so on the dress use Grass Green (GR3) and Aqua Marine (BG4) both infused for a minimum of 15 seconds.
4) After coloring the image, place the card together.
We hope Annette has inspired you to get creative, please join us in welcoming her to the Chameleon Team.
