We Remember

This Sunday is Remembrance Sunday, it is held in the UK and the commonwealth as a day “to commemorate the contribution of British and Commonwealth military and civilian servicemen and women in the two World Wars and later conflicts”.  The Queen lays a wreath of poppies to remember the fallen and so the Poppy has become synonymous with this day.  Ilina has marked this day with a Poppy card design of her own.

By Ilina Crouse

Ilina also tells us why the poppy was chosen, she said “The remembrance poppy was inspired by the World War I poem “In Flanders Fields”. Its opening lines refer to the many poppies that were the first flowers to grow in the churned-up earth of soldiers’ graves in Flanders, a region of Europe that overlies a part of Belgium. The poppies have been used to commemorate soldiers that died in war. So, why not join me today to make a card to commemorate all of those who have lost their lives in war.”

If you would like to see how Ilina created this card you can watch her video here.

Play Date Monday’s with Concord & 9th

Hello everyone,we have been jumping up and down here at Chameleon in anticipation of our playdates with our friends at Concord & 9th. As a company they aim is to inspire your creative side, and provide exciting, high-quality, and innovative products. Our design team have certainly enjoyed exploring their creative sides combining their stamps and dies with Chameleon Pens, Pencils and Color Tops!

Cathy has combined all three Chameleon coloring products and channeled her inner Agnes (from Despicable Me) to create this unicorn card and tag.

By Cathy Andronicou

For the outside of the card Cathy used Concord & 9th’s Unicorn Awesomeness stamp set, Sophisticated Script Stamp set and Double Cut Alphabet dies combined of Chameleon Color Tone pens with Chameleon Color Tops, to get the rainbow effect and smooth blends.

Inside she used the Unicorn die combined with the Chameleon Detail Pen to add the personalised quote from Despicable me and stamped the birthday message.

With the left over die cut Cathy then created a matching tag, this time coloring with Chameleon Pencils to show how easily they flip to blend from light to dark.

You can watch how all these elements were colored on this video, so grab a comfy chair sit back and enjoy.

Alternatively you can download the photo step out He’s So Fluffy Unicorn Card & Tag instructions for later here.

But wait there is more; Concord and 9th certainly inspired Cathy’s creativity, she just couldn’t stop with just this project so she created a couple of  bonus cards using the Hello Lovely stamp set and Hugs Die with Chameleon Pens & Color Tops.

Cathy used a no line coloring technique by stamping with Memento New Sprout ink and then using Chameleon pen RG4 with Colour Top YG3 for the leaves, PK 3 pen with BV2 color top for the big flower, BL4 pen and BV2 color top for the medium flower and BL4 pen and BL2 color top for the smallest flower.  The hugs was colored with BL4 pen and BL7 color top, then wink of stella and picco glaze added.

For her final card she colored the largest flower with Aladine Izink Dye inks; Bro de noix, Aurore & Cire and then for the remaining smaller flowers Chameleon Color Tone pens; Mellow Yellow & Tangerine with the Burgundy, Peony Pink and Tangerine Color Tops.

The leaves were colored with the Grass Green pen and Spring Meadow Color Top and the sentiment was created using Couture Creations Go Press & Foil Machine with Anna Griffin foils. Now for those of you that have hopped with us before we like to give away prizes, so here’s what you have to do to enter in our draw.

Now it wouldn’t be a hop without a prize,  would it? So we will give away a 5 pen pack of your choice over this month’s hop to one random person, to enter you must do two things….

Halloween Layout

Tomorrow is Halloween with trick or treaters dressing up to knock on doors and fill their buckets with candy and we have a perfect layout by Tracy to capture those dress up moments!

By Tracy McLennon

Did you know Tracy used the detail pen to hand draw all those pumpkins!!!!!

Tracy said “Turns out I didn’t have a stamp set or colouring page to give me inspiration for creating my layout. Instead I created my decorative border using my Detail Pen, and a little doodling.”

You can see how to recreate this Halloween Layout by downloading the instructions here.

We hope you have plenty of treats this halloween and no tricks, we will be back on Friday with some Christmas inspiration, so don’t forget to pop by.

Our Final Friend Friday with Maya Road

We have had such a great month hopping with our Friends at Maya Road, we hope we have inspired you to get your craft supplies out with all the inspiration from both teams each Friday!

Today is our last day of play and Olesya has created a warming Hello Card From Russia with Maya Road dies and Chameleon Pens and Tanya has created an Autumnal Pumpkin pop-up card.

By Olesya Kharkova

We asked Olesya how she came up with the inspiration for this project, she said” Some time ago I came across interesting articles about traditional ornaments in Russia and decided to make a Hello from Russia card with something warm, national but modern – a coffee cup with traditional elements and colors.”

If you would like to see how Olesya created this Hello from Russia card you can download the instructions here.

Next Tanya shares her pop up box with gift card holder, maybe it could be a gift card for a coffee and hello, maybe with a shot of pumpkin spice to warm the heart.

Altenew Crafty Friends Blog Hop

We are so excited to be taking part again in another Altenew Blog hop, you should of arrived here from Laurel Beard or  you can start the hop from the beginning by clicking the link below.  Altenew stamps really are the perfect match to Chameleon Pens, Pencils and Color Tops!

Start the hop at Altenew

Cathy has been crafting for years and fell in love with stamping at the ripe old age of 8 when she was at a county show and saw stamping and embossing – but back then there were no heat guns, she had to melt her embossing powder by holding it over the toaster! She has created this floral hello card with a video to show you just how easy it is to recreate!

By Cathy A

Cathy has used Altenew’s Blooming Bouquet Stamp and die sets to create this simple design. Watch how easy it is to get the blended effects on the leaves and flowers using Chameleon Color Tone Pens & Pencils and how to get the ombre effect from Fuchsia to Deep Violet on the ‘hello’ sentiment.

Alternatively you can download the Hello Card worksheet here for later.

Cathy has also created this beautiful no line floral thank you bonus card, to show how versatile the Chameleon Color Tone Pens and Colour Tops are.

Altenew’s Blooming Bouquet was stamped using Memento New Sprout ink to give a faint outline and then  Colored.

  • using  Chameleon Color Tone Pens, Green Apple (GR1), Dark Sage (GR2) and Evergreen (GR4) combined with the Spring Meadow (YG3) Color Top for the leaves
  • using Mellow Yellow (YO2) Pen with the Red Coral Color Top for the largest flower and buds
  • using Bubble Gum (PK3) pen with the Peony Pink Color Top for the bottom right flower
  • Baby Blue (BL2) & Cornflower Blue Pens with the Lavender (BV2) Color Top for the small flowers.
  • A stitched outline was then added using the Chameleon Detail Pen.

The Altenew Thanks die was then used to cut out the sentiment from the colored design, green and purple fine liner pens were then used to enhance the stems and small flowers.
